The Kingdom of God

Dear CBC Family,

Please read this email carefully.

I want to make you aware of our decision to refinance the existing mortgage. As our old loan just had a rate adjustment, which increased the monthly payment almost $2,000 for the next year and then another adjustment, we prayerfully considered what our options were.

By the grace of God, we were given the opportunity to substantially lower our interest rate and payment but it would require a paying down of the principal of the loan by more than $200,000. We spent much time discussing and praying to determine what the Lord wished to do with His church. At the end of our deliberations, we determined it was His will to take a large part of the savings and pay $200,000 off the principal. This still leaves us with a smaller safety cushion obviously but tremendously helps us by lowering our monthly payment by more than $6,000. This payoff also decreases our mortgage balance to $2,000,000 flat. To give you some idea how far we have come, I remember when it was 3.1 million and seemed impossible to ever get out from under it. What seems impossible with men is possible with God!

This cash layout is pretty risky in today’s market but I believe God has spoken and I also believe in you who have supported the work. Once the solar is in, we expect to be saving $8,000+ per month which is amazing! Thank you church for your faithfulness!

This weekend we will continue for another week on the topic of the Kingdom of God. I had a few questions which I want to address and then tie it up with three more points about what that Kingdom entails and, most importantly, how do we live in it -- or enter in and abide in it if you prefer. This is tremendously important and is a massive New Testament topic worthy of study. As I said, everything we are looking for is inside that Kingdom! It is not something in the future but in the here and now. Rom 14:17-18 “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.”

All we need to do is discover the old ways and we will know the old power! Exciting times ahead!

Blessings,

Pastor Scott
