Stand
Ephesians 6:13 "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."
Dear CBC Family,
There are times in our lives when doing the right thing is going to be risky, or even costly. It is then we have a decision to make. Will I do the right thing even if it threatens me or puts things I treasure at risk? The Bible leaves no doubt here: “He who knows what to do and doesn’t do it to him it is sin” James 4:17. This “sin” is not the commission of some heinous act but simply the omission of a righteous one. “Don’t get involved” is the mantra of our society but you will have a hard time squaring that with scripture.
The reason I mention this is because we are living in a day when people are cowering before evil instead of taking a stand against it. While we should expect that cowering in the world that should never be the case in the church of God. We have no reason to fear man! The only one who we should fear is God Himself. I challenge you to decide now, before the situation is even presented, that you will let the Holy Spirit work through you the next time you are given the chance to do the right thing. There is always a risk but there is never a genuine threat to what matters the most. Jesus can never be taken from us!
This weekend we are going to look at Romans 12:1–2 and talk about the will of God, what it means, how to find it, and how that enables us to live. This is an incredibly important study, particularly if you want to stand in the evil days (Eph 6:13) of 2022. Remember, all that is required for evil to continue, and spread, is for righteous people to do nothing. It is time to stand and standing often involves a cost.
Thank you, brothers and sisters, for standing with me in the truth of the gospel. I am grateful.
Blessings,
Pastor Scott
